- Don't throw away the lemon peels after using them. Freeze them instead. Use them to freshen and clean your garbage disposal at the end of each day by popping the frozen lemon peel into the garbage disposal. Because the peel is frozen it sharpens the blades in the disposal and the lemon aroma will leave your kitchen smelling fresh and clean.
