ATTE KA HALWA

Atte Ka Halwa is the simplest, quickest and easiest dessert possible! It comes together in no time, using three simple ingredients. Perfect for beginners too. The key is to saute the flour till fragnant and till you attain that wonderfully golden hue.

Atte Ka Halwa is one of the most popular prasads. I personally like the no frill version, no nuts nothing just hot atte ka halwa. It tastes even better during winter evenings. And because it needs to prep time, you can cook it up whenever those hunger pangs strike or you're in the mood to have something sweet but don't have much time on hand.

Ingredients:

Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup
Ghee, 1/2 cup
Sugar, 3/4 cup (I used brown, but feel use whatever you have)
Cardamom Powder, 1/2 tsp
Water, 3/4 cup
Slivered Almonds for garnish (optional)

Procedure:

1. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan.

2. Add the whole wheat flour and saute till fragrant. The entire cooking will be done on low heat for this dessert.

3. Add sugar and mix well.

4. Heat water in a separate pan.

5. Add the boiling water to the atta mixture while mixing continuously. Be extremely cautious while doing this as the water will splutter.

6. Flavor with cardamom powder.

7. Keep mixing to combine well till it all comes together.

8. Atta halwa is best enjoyed hot!
